The Formula 1 racer, who dated the Pussycat Doll on-and-off for nearly a decade, revealed Scherzinger couldn’t be his first priority during the course of their eight-year relationship.
“My cars are my babies,” Hamilton said via The Sun. “I used to say, when I had a girlfriend, ‘I’m taking one of the girls out, so you can come if you want, but you come second when it comes to the cars.”
Hamilton and Scherzinger got together in 2007, breaking up for the first time in 2011. Though the couple did reunite in 2012, their rocky romance eventually ended for good last February.
While Hamilton was most recently linked to Victoria’s Secret beauty Barbara Palvin, Scherzinger also bounced back with tennis pro Grigor Dimitrov.
As for whether Palvin is pleased with Hamilton’s priorities, he doesn’t see a problem with the way his life rolls.
“When you eventually save and buy ‘that car,’ or do whatever it is to get ‘that car’ you’ve had your eyes on, it’s the greatest feeling,” he said.
